Want to help grow one of Australia’s leading Christian grassroots movements for justice? Common Grace has an exciting new position in the Community Engagement team to develop and manage a major gifts and bequests strategy and develop relationships with new and existing donors.

This is an opportunity for an experienced and passionate fundraiser who wants to use their excellent people and communication skills to help Christians, through their generosity, pursue Jesus and justice in Australia. With your focus on cultivating and maintaining relationships with current and potential high-value donors, you will help grow the organisation’s capacity to deliver high-quality impactful advocacy campaigns.

Common Grace is operated by a small team located all around Australia. Our work is led and shaped by the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders.

About the Role

This is a new opportunity within Common Grace to establish and implement a new Major Gifts and Bequest strategy.

Bringing your person-centred fundraising approach you can make this role your own and know that your impact in helping bring justice to these lands will be significant.

This role will report to the Community Engagement and Operations Manager, who oversees all of the fundraising at Common Grace, and will also work with the National Director in nurturing and developing a portfolio of major and mid-value donors and bequest leads. As a key part of the fundraising team, you will help ensure that the major donor strategy is well integrated into all supporter engagement programs.

There is also the opportunity to explore funding opportunities with foundations, trusts, and grants.

This role is crucial in the growth, development, and diversification of the organisation's funding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Major Donor strategy.
  • Develop and implement a Bequest Strategy.
  • Help lead the Common Grace team to establish and nurture relationships with potential and current high-value donors and bequest donors.
  • Develop and write compelling gift proposals and impact reports as part of the major donor relationship.
  • Proactively research opportunities for grants.
  • Work with the fundraising and justice teams to ensure donor engagement is integrated across the work of the organisation.

Selection Criteria

  • Passionate about justice and Identifies as a follower of Jesus.
  • Fundraising experience (ideally with mid-value or major donors, bequests) and success in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build new relationships in person and online.
  • High confidence to engage with potential and existing donors on the phone, through email, and in person.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive and highly self-motivated, with experience establishing a new strategy or program.
  • Able to work remotely, autonomously, and as part of a small team (that primarily works through online platforms).
  • Excellent written communication, and a sound understanding of, or experience specifically in, fundraising writing.
  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management software, with a high level of data entry accuracy.
  • Ability to travel to meet with donors, and for semi-regular team gatherings.
