Help shape how a global Christian mission uses AI

Artificial intelligence is changing how organisations work, communicate and solve problems.

For a global Christian mission, the opportunity is significant—but so are the questions around security, privacy, ethics, human judgement and responsible adoption.

Power to Change Australia is looking for an experienced AI Strategy & Governance Lead to join us as a missionary and serve with CCCI’s Global Technology Solutions Team.

You would remain based in Australia while working as part of a distributed global technology team supporting ministries across many countries and cultures.

This is not simply a role for someone who enjoys experimenting with the latest AI tools. We are looking for someone who can help a global organisation determine where AI can make a meaningful difference, how it should be implemented, and what guardrails need to be in place.

It is also a missionary role: an opportunity to use your professional expertise directly in helping fulfil the Great Commission.

About the role

As CCC's AI Expert, you will help shape the organisation's approach to artificial intelligence across its global ministry.

You will work with technology teams, ministry leaders, privacy and security specialists, and national ministries to identify high-value opportunities and turn them into responsible, practical solutions.

Your work will include:

• helping develop and maintain CCCI's global AI strategy and roadmap;
• assessing emerging AI technologies and identifying where they could contribute to ministry effectiveness;
• advising leaders on AI opportunities, risks and organisational readiness;
• designing implementation approaches that align with established security, privacy and ethical standards;
• helping establish appropriate guardrails for the use of generative AI across the organisation;
• guiding software engineers and other builders as they develop AI-enabled tools and workflows;
• evaluating AI models, agents, autonomous workflows and third-party platforms;
• working with Privacy and Security teams to reduce risks associated with data handling and inappropriate AI use;
• helping prevent unapproved or poorly governed “shadow AI” solutions;
• developing AI literacy and helping leaders and teams use approved AI tools effectively; and
• translating complex technical developments into clear strategic advice for ministry leaders.

You will be working across a genuinely global organisation, so the ability to understand different ministry contexts and build trust across cultures will be important.

About you

We would particularly like to hear from people who combine strong AI capability with strategic judgement and the ability to communicate with people who are not technical specialists.

You may come from AI strategy, enterprise architecture, digital transformation, software engineering, technology consulting, information governance or another closely related field.

You are likely to bring:

• substantial practical understanding of generative AI and large language models;
• experience evaluating and implementing AI technologies in an organisational context;
• a good understanding of emerging areas such as AI agents and autonomous workflows;
• enough technical depth to work effectively with software engineers and architects;
• familiarity with areas such as APIs, AI infrastructure, data management and emerging AI platforms;
• an understanding of the security, privacy and ethical issues involved in enterprise AI adoption;
• the ability to distinguish worthwhile applications of AI from hype;
• strong communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex technology to organisational leaders;
• the confidence to give clear professional advice while working collaboratively; and
• curiosity and the discipline required to keep learning in a rapidly changing field.

Experience with technologies such as Gemini, Claude, APIs, vector databases, AI agents and enterprise AI governance frameworks would be valuable.

We are conscious that AI is developing rapidly and that strong candidates may bring different combinations of experience. We do not expect every candidate to have mastered every technology currently listed in the role. The most important technical requirements will be explored with CCCI's Global Technology team during the recruitment process.

How the appointment works

You would join Power to Change Australia as a missionary, while your professional assignment, supervision and day-to-day work would be with CCCI's global technology team.

The role may be undertaken full-time or potentially part-time.

You can be based anywhere in Australia. Power to Change also has offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and where practical we would encourage some connection with one of these offices so that you can participate in an Australian ministry community as well as your global team.

The Global Technology team is already distributed internationally and therefore works flexibly across time zones. The specific expectations for meeting overlap with global colleagues will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Our missionaries ordinarily develop a team of people who partner with their ministry through prayer and financial support. We will explain this process clearly and can discuss transition arrangements and other possible pathways as part of the recruitment conversation.
