Bookkeeper

Samaritan's Purse Australia is seeking an experienced and detail-focused Bookkeeper to join our Finance team for a casual two-month contract. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will help ensure donations, accounting transactions and reconciliations are processed accurately, efficiently and on time.
About the Role
Support our mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through compassionate relief and development work.
- Process and account for donations in Xero in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Complete web-donation data entry for Samaritan’s Purse Australia and Operation Christmas Child.
- Prepare and enter Stripe and PayPal donation journals using our in-house donor management system and Xero.
- Download Stripe payout files and reconcile donation-related intercompany transactions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and Weel transactions, ensuring records are authorised and supported by complete documentation.
- Work closely with the Finance and Donor Services teams to meet processing deadlines.
It is essential to reside in the assigned region and it is an onsite role.
About You
- At least five years’ bookkeeping experience.
- Strong proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with a donor management system is desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and time management.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Clear, professional communication and a collaborative approach
Selection Criteria
- Demonstrate Christian values aligned with Samaritan’s Purse Australia’s Statement of Faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for service.
- Proficient in Xero Accounting System.
- Experience in bookkeeping for at least 5 years.
- Experience using Donor Management system.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
- Excellent time management.
- Ability to keep strict confidentiality.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
