The Australian Association of Christian Schools (AACS) was formed in 1985 to help Christian schools speak with one voice in the public arena, advocate for their interests, and protect their freedom to provide Christ-centred education. The Board is now calling for expressions of interest in the role of Executive Officer of AACS.
Position Summary
The Executive Officer provides strategic leadership to the Australian Association of Christian Schools (AACS), serving the interests of member schools and advancing the Association's mission and objectives.
Working under the direction of the AACS Board, the Executive Officer is responsible for:
- providing strategic leadership and advice to the Board on issues affecting Christian schools;
- representing and advocating for the interests of member schools with governments, political parties, education authorities, peak bodies and other relevant organisations;
- building and maintaining a strong, credible and positive public profile for AACS and its member schools;
- monitoring political, legislative, regulatory and educational developments and providing timely analysis and advice to the Board and member schools;
- supporting member schools to remain faithful to their Christian mission and distinctive educational vision while responding appropriately to changing legislative and regulatory environments;
- strengthening relationships, communication, collaboration and mutual support among AACS member schools;
- developing constructive relationships with Christian education organisations and other relevant education bodies; and
- ensuring the effective and financially responsible operation of the Association within the policies, strategic direction and delegations established by the Board.
The National Executive Officer will work closely with the AACS Board and will operate with a high degree of initiative and autonomy within the authority delegated by the Board. Administrative and support arrangements will be determined having regard to the successful applicant's location and the operational needs of the Association.
