Director of Ministry & Mission
Strengthen Churches. Equip Leaders. Advance the Gospel.
There are leadership roles. And then there are callings.
The Christian Community Churches of Victoria and Tasmania (CCCVAT) is seeking a spiritually mature, experienced and relational Director of Ministry & Mission (DoMM) to serve as a senior leader within our network of Churches.
This is a significant opportunity to invest not in a single congregation, but in the flourishing of dozens of autonomous churches, hundreds of leaders and generations of disciples across Victoria and Tasmania.
If your passion is to equip others for ministry, encourage pastors and leaders, champion church health and help churches work together for greater Kingdom impact, we would love to hear from you.
About CCCVAT
CCCVAT exists to advance the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by supporting, strengthening and equipping churches to grow the Kingdom of God.
We are a network of approximately 50 autonomous churches across Victoria and Tasmania, united by a shared Christian heritage, relationships and vision while respecting the independence and autonomy of every member church.
Through leadership development, pastoral care, church revitalisation, networking, training, governance support and strategic partnerships, CCCVAT seeks to help their member churches flourish in their God-given mission.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board, the Director of Ministry & Mission is a senior leader within CCCVAT and provides executive leadership to the organisation and its staff team.
This is a distinctive role combining spiritual maturity, relational leadership, strategic thinking, pastoral engagement and organisational stewardship.
Rather than exercising authority over member churches, your influence will be built through relationships, trust, encouragement, collaboration and service.
You will work alongside pastors, elders, church leaders, church planters and ministry partners—encouraging leaders, developing emerging leaders, strengthening connections between churches, fostering partnerships and ensuring CCCVAT continues to serve its member churches with excellence, wisdom and integrity.
Your Mission
You will:
- inspire, encourage and support pastors, church leaders and church planters;
- champion prayer, discipleship and leadership development across the network;
- help develop and implement CCCVAT's strategic vision in ways that support autonomous churches in fulfilling the Great Commission;
- foster collaboration, fellowship and healthy relationships between churches and ministry partners;
- encourage church planting, revitalisation and evangelism initiatives;
- identify and develop emerging leaders;
- build partnerships that strengthen ministry and expand Kingdom impact;
- provide wise executive leadership to CCCVAT, including sound governance, financial stewardship and organisational management;
- lead, support and develop CCCVAT's staff team;
- work constructively with the Board in implementing CCCVAT's strategic priorities; and
- represent CCCVAT with humility, conviction and credibility within the wider Christian community.
Who You Are
You are more than an experienced leader.
You are a servant-hearted Christian whose life demonstrates wisdom, humility, integrity and spiritual maturity.
You understand that effective leadership within a movement of autonomous churches is primarily relational rather than positional. You know how to influence without needing to control, bring people together without requiring uniformity, and encourage churches while respecting the authority and responsibility of their local leadership.
You love the local church.
You are energised by seeing pastors encouraged, leaders equipped, churches strengthened and people growing in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
You are equally comfortable around a Board table, mentoring an emerging leader, facilitating strategic conversations, engaging with pastors and elders, or standing alongside a church during a season of opportunity or challenge.
You bring:
- a mature and authentic Christian faith with a demonstrated dependence on God;
- a deep understanding of, and credibility within, the Christian Community Churches/Brethren Movement;
- proven senior leadership experience within churches, Christian organisations or ministry networks;
- an understanding of and respect for the autonomy of local churches;
- the ability to exercise influence through relationships, trust and collaboration;
- the ability to think strategically while leading people with grace and conviction;
- strong financial and organisational leadership skills;
- outstanding communication and relationship-building ability; and
- a passion for collaboration, mentoring and Kingdom impact.
Why This Role Matters
Healthy churches change communities.
Strong leaders strengthen churches.
Connected churches can achieve more together.
As Director of Ministry & Mission, you will have the privilege of working alongside churches and their leaders—helping churches thrive, leaders grow, ministries develop and the Gospel of Jesus Christ advance.
Your influence can extend far beyond the CCCVAT organisation itself. It can be seen through encouraged pastors, better-equipped leaders, healthier churches, new ministry initiatives, stronger relationships and a more connected Movement committed to making Christ known.
