Seeking a suitably qualified temporary part-time Payroll Officer to join our Christ-centred community. The Payroll Officer’s primary purpose is to ensure that payroll processing for the College is managed effectively. This position will take responsibility for the College’s payroll system and require all tasks to be performed effectively and efficiently, as required by the needs of the College.

The Position:

Due to the continued growth of the College, we are seeking a suitably qualified temporary part-time Payroll Officer to join our Christ-centred community.

The Payroll Officer’s primary purpose is to ensure that payroll processing for the College is managed effectively. This position will take responsibility for the College’s payroll system and require all tasks to be performed effectively and efficiently, as required by the needs of the College.

The position is based at the Werribee campus and is set to commence in term 4 this year and will be on a temporary part time basis.

This position is three days a week.

The Person:

Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll for 450+ employees in a medium to large organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Fair Work Awards, employment contracts, pay rates, allowances, leave entitlements, purchased leave arrangements, salary sacrifice arrangements, and other employment conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex, integrated payroll and HRIS systems, together with a strong understanding of ATO compliance requirements, including STP reporting, PAYG withholding, and superannuation obligations.
  • Payroll experience within the education sector or a similarly complex workforce environment is desirable.
  • Previous experience with the Aurion Payroll and HRIS system is advantageous.
  • Sound understanding of payroll legislation, employment obligations, Fair Work requirements, taxation, superannuation, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in payroll processing, reconciliations, and data management.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll reconciliations, payroll reporting, salary sacrifice administration, and processing payroll adjustments, including back pay calculations and leave corrections.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, professional, and customer-focused advice to employees and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict payroll deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Certificate IV, Diploma, or Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
  • Holds a current Employee Working with Children Check (Employee) and a satisfactory National Police Check.
