The Children’s Coordinator is responsible for helping lead and oversee children’s ministry programs from infancy through to primary school age. Working alongside the Children’s and Families Pastor, this role exists to create safe, engaging and faith-filled environments that support children and families, encourage spiritual growth and foster strong community connections within Goodlife Community Centre. Goodlife is part of the Queensland Baptist association of churches.
Employment Type: Part-Time (20hours/week including half day on Sunday morning) maternity leave position.
Award / Classification: In accordance with QB remuneration guidelines
Report to: Children’s and Families Pastor (Emma Johnson) and Lead Pastor
Oversees: Kid’s ministry volunteers and kids!
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, support and schedule volunteers for children’s ministry programs and events
- Provide leadership, encouragement and ongoing communication to volunteer team members
- Ensure volunteers understand and comply with all relevant policies, procedures and child safety requirements
Ministry Leadership
- Oversee and coordinate children’s disciple-making programs through planning and executing activities for infants through to primary school-aged children
- Liaising with parents and welcoming guests who are new to Goodlife
- Create engaging and age-appropriate environments and activities that support learning, participation and spiritual development
- Plan and support inclusive programs that cater for children with diverse needs and abilities
- Oversee and co-ordinate Child Safe training for volunteers and keep them and other staff up to date with the National guidelines
Pastoral Care and Child Safety
- Provide appropriate pastoral care and support to children and families
- Support the broader community in alignment with the mission and values of Goodlife Community Centre
- Maintain compliance with all child safety, workplace health and safety and organisational policies and procedures
Events and Community Engagement
- Assist in the planning and coordination of special events including Easter, Christmas, baptisms, baby dedications, holiday programs and community activities
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, families and the broader Goodlife community
- Work collaboratively with other ministry and operational areas within Goodlife Community Centre
Communication and Administration
- Manage communication with families and volunteers through email, SMS and digital platforms
- Utilise digital systems and communication tools including Planning Center, Elvanto, Workplace, ClickUp, Instagram and Facebook
- Maintain appropriate records, schedules and program information
- Support communication and collaboration regarding shared spaces, equipment and branding requirements
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Alignment with the Goodlife Statement of Faith and Spiritual Leadership values
- Passion for working with children and families
- Strong organisational and leadership skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to use digital communication and administration platforms
- Hold or be eligible to obtain a current Queensland Blue Card
