Responsible for engaging with young people (high school to young adults) as part of establishing a multicultural Uniting Church Youth and Young Adults Hub in Western Sydney......
The role will be part-time (30hrs per week).
Responsibilities
You will be a key part of the current ministry team, resourcing and coordinating:
- The multiple youth & young adult projects at QHUC with the view to grow them into strong regional ministries (grow and go) including:
- Rock On – Young Teenage (Year 7-12) community outreach (extension of Kids Rock kids club)
- Reflections Young Adults Bible Study
- Sunday Morning Youth Ministry
- QHUC Night Church
- Explore opportunities to establish and grow a Uniting Church connection to young people studying and working in the Northwest Sydney region.
- Explore and encourage ways to connect the youth and young adults across the Parramatta Nepean Presbytery.
Requirements
- A committed Christian with a personal faith in Jesus Christ
- A passion for sharing the gospel with others
- Relevant tertiary qualification(s), for example, in mission, theology or ministry
- Membership of the Uniting Church and a strong understanding of its history, theology, ethos, structures, practices, ministry, and mission activities
- Admitted and commissioned by the Uniting Church into the Ministry of Pastor to hold authority on doctrine or religious practice in the Uniting Church
- Strong preaching and teaching gifts
- A willingness to make QHUC their church home
- Enthusiasm and a passion for helping young people
- Experience in youth and young adults’ ministries within a Christian church context
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Driver’s Licence
- Working with Children’s Check (WWCC) and Criminal Record Check
- The right to work in Australia
Nice to have
- Ability to engage across social media platforms
- Demonstrates an ability to network, develop relationships and build community
- Experience using music, drama or art in ministry context
