Associate Pastor

Compensation: $70,000 to $85,000 Annually

St Lucia Uniting Church

Part-time – 15 hours per week

We are looking for an experienced Associate Pastor to join our team at St Lucia Uniting Church supporting our Pastor and spiritual leaders.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assist the Lead Pastor with activities related to both existing programming.
  • Assist in the development, planning and leading of new gatherings (i.e. outreach events)
  • Help develop, lead and preach at worship services
  • Assist in developing online missional presence.
  • Model and engaged discipling processes
  • Supervise volunteers as directed to achieve outcomes for functions, projects or programs
  • Respond to enquiries and provide detailed advice and information on the Church's services and mission
  • Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including in interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents and stakeholders.
  • Work within the policies and procedures of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod including the Safe Ministry with Children policy, the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant legislation including reporting hazards/incidents, support for injured workers and full participation in return to work plans.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • A dynamic faith and the desire to serve God and share his love with others
  • Membership of the Uniting Church in Australia and a commitment to, and understanding of, the mission and ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod.
  • Tertiary qualification in Christian Ministry or equivalent experience (essential)

Experience and Skills

  • Experience in professional ministry or significant lay leadership.
  • Capacity and experience in the discipling of others.
  • Pastoral care skills, both in individual and team settings.
  • Demonstrated relational skills
  • Demonstrated administrative skills (event planning, email, coordinating volunteers)
  • Demonstrated ability in effective written and spoken communication
  • Ability to coordinate and develop volunteers in an encouraging, constructive manner
  • Commitment to working within the purpose and values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod and adhering to the policies, organisational requirements and processes.

This position is for the exercise of the responsibilities of the lay specified ministry of pastor of the Uniting Church in Australia. A non-Uniting Church member may be appointed to the role subject to successful completion of core competency requirements for the ministry of pastor in the Uniting Church in Australia. The successful applicant will be required to comply with the Code of Ethics and Ministry Practice.

Additional Requirements:

  • A current Blue Card (or the ability to hold).
  • Drivers Licence (preferred)
  • Be eligible to legally work in Australia
