This is a full-time position commencing 2027 or earlier by mutual agreement.

Nestled in the leafy suburb of Barden Ridge in Southern Sydney, Shire Christian School has been providing high quality Christian education for nearly 50 years. With over 900 students enrolled across Prep to Year 12, we seek to create a culture where every child is part of a community that feels like family. Under this framework, teachers work in a collaborative and collegial environment to design experiences that challenge, extend and enrich student learning.

The successful applicant will be able to:

  • Lead and mentor a team of teachers, professionally developing them in alignment with the school's learning framework.
  • Lead a team of Yr7-12 HSIE teachers to:
    • develop programs and teaching strategies that foster deep learning and student understanding.
    • ensure that key deadlines and administrative responsibilities are met.
    • provide leadership, advice and support to the HSIE team to drive improvement in professional practice.
    • contribute to regular Head of Department meetings to advance learning in the school more broadly.
  • Demonstrate experience teaching the Stage 6 syllabus, with an understanding of the demands of the Higher School Certificate requirements.
  • Motivate students to learn by demonstrating effective classroom management strategies.
  • Orchestrate lessons to inspire curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Differentiate learning to support all learners.
  • Engage warmly and constructively with parents.
  • Embed a Biblical perspective into the curriculum.
  • Provide timely and transformative feedback to students.
  • Confidently integrate ICT to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with their colleagues.
  • Show a commitment to improvement and professional development.
