About the role

The Accountant works closely with the Finance Manager across finance, payroll, and reporting functions for the College. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to supporting colleagues in understanding financial information.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within TASS
  • Prepare timely monthly financial reports, including variance, expenditure, and capital reporting
  • Manage journals, provisions, and reconciliations, including loans and investments
  • Monitor and report on cash flow and overall financial performance
  • Oversee end-to-end fortnightly payroll, including compliance and staff enquiries
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Ensure compliance with financial, audit, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with government reporting, funding applications, and insurance claims

You will be part of a collegial and supportive Business Office team. A competitive salary is offered. This full-time role is available after a notice provision of between 4-6 weeks.

About you

Essential criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance;
  • CPA or CA qualified (or nearing completion)
  • demonstrated experience in financial accounting role, experience in a school setting would be advantageous
  • strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal preparation
  • experience with payroll processing, including superannuation, ATO compliance, and leave management
  • sound understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • experience preparing financial reports, including cash flow and capital expenditure reporting
  • familiarity with accounting systems (experience with TASS highly desirable)
  • strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data accurately and efficiently
  • understanding of compliance requirements, including government reporting and financial regulations
  • hold or be willing and able to obtain a Working with Children Check, and
  • hold or be willing and able to obtain a Department of Education Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
