About the role
Wesley Mission has a long established history in providing Out of Home Care across NSW. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to provide high-quality case management to children and young people in Out of Home Care, working closely with birth parents, foster carers and key stakeholders to support safety, stability, permanency and positive outcomes. While the core focus of the role is OOHC case management, the position also contributes to the continued growth of foster care services across the Armidale and Tamworth region through supporting carer recruitment, assessment and training, building strong relationships with external partners including DCJ, and representing Wesley Dalmar Children’s Services in local interagency and sector networks.
The successful applicant will be confident in managing a case load, coordinating care planning, completing documentation and reports, and working collaboratively with carers, families, DCJ and community stakeholders. They will also be proactive and relationship-focused, with the ability to strengthen referral pathways, promote carer recruitment opportunities and support service growth across the region.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology or related discipline
- Previous experience in case management, preferably with children and young people in Out of Home Care or child, youth and family services
- Flexible working hours including some evenings and weekends
- Current unrestricted driver’s licence
- Demonstrated ability to write reports to a professional standard with excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to work as a part of a team and independently
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with carers, families, community organisations, DCJ and other external stakeholders
- Capacity to contribute to carer recruitment, community engagement and service growth across the Armidale and Tamworth region
- Willingness to participate in and support local interagency meetings, sector forums and partnership activities as required
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and experience managing difficult behaviours
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of therapeutic care frameworks
- Knowledge and experience in the Permanency Support Program
- Two years’ experience working with children and families and/or in the OOHC field
- Knowledge of the children’s court system and required court documentation
- Experience supporting carer recruitment, community presentations or stakeholder engagement activities
Remuneration
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. The agency provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.
