Samaritan’s Purse Australia is seeking a hands-on, service-oriented IT Specialist to join our team and support our mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through global relief and development. This role is ideal for a technically capable professional who enjoys helping people, solving problems, and using technology to support meaningful ministry work.

About the Role

The IT Specialist role focuses on hardware and software support, server and network maintenance, and technical assistance with donor data workflows. The IT Specialist serves as the first point of contact for on-site staff IT needs, works closely with contracted IT vendors to ensure both on-site and remote staff receive timely and effective support. Technology empowers ministry teams to work effectively and securely in their service to others, to support our mission of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through compassionate relief and development work.

It is essential to reside in the assigned region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily desktop and user support for computers, peripherals, mobile devices, video conferencing systems, printers, and office technology.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software applications, security updates, and hardware components as directed by the IT Manager.
  • Assist with local servers, networks, backups, system access, IT assets, and lifecycle management.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and user issues promptly and effectively.
  • Support donor data workflows, including imports, exports, integrations, database maintenance, user access, reporting, and data cleanup projects.
  • Follow cybersecurity, data protection, backup, and IT governance requirements in line with organisational and IHQ standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, global IT colleagues, and external IT vendors to deliver dependable, ministry-focused support.
  • Model Christ-centred service, integrity, teamwork, and a heart for ministry in all aspects of the role.

About You

You will be a dependable and collaborative IT professional with strong technical capability, excellent communication skills, and a genuine desire to serve others. You will be comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical users, working with attention to detail, and responding flexibly during times of high ministry demand or disaster response support.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrate Christian values aligned with Samaritan’s Purse Australia’s Statement of Faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for service.
  • Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical service delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop and server environments, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with networking, LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, cloud systems, and Azure preferred.
  • Basic understanding of databases, data workflows, CRM systems, SQL queries and reports, and Microsoft Excel including pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of backup systems, cybersecurity principles, system documentation, and regulatory compliance issues affecting data management.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, ministry, or cross-cultural environment will be highly regarded.
