Northwest Community Ministries (NWCM) is a not-for-profit provider of Before and After School Care, with a centralised Head Office located in Rouse Hill.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated WHS & Property/Asset Officer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that supports the community and genuinely values its people—recognising both effort and contribution.
This is a newly established role that will play a key part in strengthening safety, compliance and risk management across our growing multi-site organisation.
About the role
This role is responsible for ensuring NWCM maintains safe, compliant and well-managed environments across all locations, through strong systems, clear accountability and proactive risk management.
You will take the lead in the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of WHS systems, while also coordinating property, maintenance and asset-related risks across the organisation. The role combines:
- 70% WHS systems, compliance and culture
- 30% property, maintenance and asset risk coordination
Importantly, this role acts as the single point of accountability for WHS systems and the physical risk environment across all sites, working closely with leadership to strengthen compliance and support due diligence obligations under WHS legislation.
You will play a key role in:
- identifying hazards, assessing risks and preventing incidents
- improving visibility and consistency of safety practices across all services
- supporting leadership in meeting legislative and governance requirements
- embedding a proactive and organisation-wide approach to safety
The role will be diverse, working closely with the People & Culture Manager, Operations team and Property & Equipment Assistant.
You will utilise your proven WHS experience to deliver strong outcomes and provide practical, hands-on support, all while demonstrating our ULTRA company values. You will have strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
The role is Full Time; however, we would consider Permanent Part Time (minimum 0.8 FTE).
Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Developing, implementing and maintaining WHS systems, policies and procedures
- Monitoring compliance with WHS legislation and driving continuous improvement
- Conducting site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across multiple locations
- Managing incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Monitoring WHS risks and improving visibility of hazards across all sites
- Supporting WHS reporting, including leadership and Board reporting requirements
- Delivering WHS inductions and training to staff and leaders
- Promoting a proactive and positive safety culture
- Coordinating maintenance activities and contractor engagement
- Driving preventative maintenance aligned to risk
- Supporting asset management and equipment safety
- Ensuring facilities and environments meet WHS requirements
- Supporting timely resolution of site-based hazards and risks
The successful candidate will be passionate, proactive and will have:
- Proven experience in WHS systems, compliance, audits and incident management
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands across multiple sites
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A willingness to embrace the NWCM ULTRA values
- Certificate IV (or higher) in Work Health & Safety or related field (essential)
- Experience in childcare or community services (desirable)
- Current and valid Driver's Licence
- Valid Working with Children Check
- Valid Police Check
