General Manager - Pastoral Care & Volunteer Services
You will shape and lead our organisational theology while contributing strategically across HammondCare. Importantly, you will remain deeply connected to frontline pastoral and relational care, ensuring our mission is lived out in every interaction.......
At HammondCare, our mission is clear: to improve quality of life for people in need. For over 94 years, since Rev. Bob Hammond first cared for homeless families during the Great Depression, we have remained committed to this purpose. Today, we are leaders in dementia, palliative and complex care across aged care residences, hospitals, home care and advisory services.
We are now seeking an exceptional General Manager of Pastoral Care and Volunteer Services—a values-driven and inspiring leader who will champion Bob Hammond’s legacy through the delivery of meaningful spiritual and relational care to the 50,000 people we serve each year.
This is a unique and pivotal leadership opportunity. As a member of the Executive Team, reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape and lead our organisational theology while contributing strategically across HammondCare. Importantly, you will remain deeply connected to frontline pastoral and relational care, ensuring our mission is lived out in every interaction.
You will lead and empower a large and diverse team of around 60 staff and 900 dedicated volunteers, fostering a culture grounded in compassion, purpose and connection. Your leadership style will be collaborative and enabling, with a strong focus on developing others, encouraging innovation and guiding contemporary approaches to pastoral care within complex care environments.
A key focus of this role is strengthening integration between Pastoral Care and our operational services across Residential Care, Home Care, Health and Hospitals, Advisory and Partnerships—ensuring a seamless and person-centred experience for those we serve.
HammondCare is a non-denominational Christian, for-purpose organisation with Gospel foundations. Our work is inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe every person is created in the image of God and deeply loved, and we are called to reflect this through compassionate, respectful care for those in need.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Relevant theological qualifications
- Extensive experience in pastoral care or counselling
- Proven leadership at both operational and strategic levels
- Strong financial and organisational management capability
Ideally, you will be based in Sydney and available to travel to our sites across Australia.
If this opportunity aligns with your calling, experience and leadership aspirations, we would love to hear from you.
