St Lucia Uniting Church
Part-time – 12 hours per week
We are looking for our next spiritual leader for our Youth and Children’s Pastor role. In this role you will deliver programs for children and teens, whilst working in partnership with the ministry team. You will provide discipleship to introduce children and teens to faith in Jesus, as well as supporting their relationships to grow with Him.
You will be responsible for:
- Discipleship of children and teens through oversight of Sunday morning programming for primary age children and our weekly gathering/outreach for teens.
- Coordinating and developing volunteers.
- Pastoral care of participants as time allows.
- Participating in worship services as gifts and time allow.
- Collaborating with the St Lucia UC ministry team (Lead Pastor, Associate Pastor and Worship Coordinator) and collaborating with local Uniting Church youth leaders.
- Modelling the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day to day work including in interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents and stakeholders.
- Working within the policies and procedures of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod including the Safe Ministry with Children policy, the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant legislation including reporting hazards/incidents, support for injured workers and full participation in return to work plans.
- Experience in professional ministry or significant lay leadership.
- Capacity and experience in the discipling of others.
- Pastoral care skills, both in individual and team settings.
- Mature Christian faith and character.
- Biblical and theological awareness.
- Cultural sensitivity and self-awareness.
- Experience in working with children and/or teens.
- Demonstrated relational skills with children, teens and adults from a variety of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated administrative skills (event planning, email, coordinating volunteers)
- Demonstrated ability in effective written and spoken communication
- Ability to coordinate and develop volunteers in an encouraging, constructive manner
- Commitment to working within the purpose and values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod and adhering to the policies, organisational requirements and processes.
- Undertaking other duties as and when directed within the scope of the role and the capabilities of the incumbent.
This position is for the exercise of the responsibilities of the lay specified ministry of pastor of the Uniting Church in Australia. A non-Uniting Church member may be appointed to the role subject to successful completion of core competency requirements for the ministry of pastor in the Uniting Church in Australia. The successful applicant will be required to comply with the Code of Ethics and Ministry Practice.
You will bring:

Additional Requirements:
- A current Blue Card (or the ability to hold).
- Drivers Licence (preferred)
- Be eligible to legally work in Australia
