We are seeking an organised, motivated, and service-oriented Administration and Communications Assistant to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, takes pride in creating order and efficiency, and wants their work to contribute to an organisation that is making a genuine difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities across Tasmania.
About the Role
Reporting to the Business and Finance Manager, you will provide administrative, organisational, and communications support across Devonport Chaplaincy Inc. and its associated programs.
As a key member of our business services team, you will help ensure our offices, systems, communications, governance processes, and organisational activities operate smoothly and professionally.
Your responsibilities will include:
Administration & Office Support
- Coordinating meetings, calendars, travel arrangements, and shared resources
- Preparing agendas, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions
- Managing records, documentation, filing systems, and organisational registers
- Supporting reception, phone enquiries, and visitor interactions
- Coordinating office supplies, equipment, and workplace resources
- Assisting with policy, procedure, and document management
Communications & Marketing Support
- Scheduling and publishing social media content
- Preparing captions and content for approval
- Capturing day-to-day content and organisational activities for digital channels
- Maintaining content calendars and supporting communications campaigns
- Assisting with internal and external communications

Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in administration, office coordination, or a similar role
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based systems
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, service-focused attitude
Desirable
- Experience in marketing, communications, or social media management
- Experience within a not-for-profit, church, ministry, or community services environment
- Knowledge of Xero or finance administration systems
- Current Driver's Licence
