Are you called with a passion to minister to children and their families?  Do you want to live in the best kept secret Australia has to offer?  Then you might be the person God is preparing to take a, growing children's ministry to a whole new level!

The Hobart City Church of Christ is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Associate Minister who loves Jesus with all their heart, to strategically lead our children’s ministry to become a beacon of hope and compassion for children and their families.

The position is a guaranteed 4 day per week appointment for an initial term of 3 years.  However, we have applied for a High Impact Community Care grant which will hopefully take the role to full-time status.  Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania recommendations for ministers, depending on experience and qualifications.  The Church will also cover all reasonable relocation costs to Hobart.

  • Understand and possess an ability to contribute to the ongoing and emerging vision of Hobart City Church of Christ as it seeks to “create spaces of hope and compassion so that anyone can encounter Jesus”;
  • Have experience at successfully creating, resourcing and sustaining a vibrant, contemporary and safe children’s ministry program;
  • Be a committed well-rounded Christian who is pursuing Jesus in their daily lives and is following a God-given call to ministry;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Display high levels of time management and organisational skills;
  • Be self-motivated and can work without regular direction;
  • Be a well organised, loyal, honest, discreet, calm and competent leader with a strong sense of community service;
  • Be passionate about exploring and implementing ways of engaging with children and their families in our local neighbourhhod
  • Be able to successfully obtain a Working with Vulnerable People Card (Tasmania) and a National Police Check before starting in the role;
  • Be either a citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
  • Be an endorsed and accredited Minister with Churches of Christ in Australia, or in a course of study heading in that direction, or willing to pursue this within the firm 12 to 18 months.
The Hobart City Church of Christ is located in the centre of the Tasmanian Capital and has been serving the community in the name of Jesus for 147 years.  With a congregation presently around 100 regulars, blessed with a demographic that genuinely covers all age ranges, City Church is entering a season of strategic growth and desires to see the children of Hobart won for Jesus.
