About the program
The Targeted Early Intervention program, funded by NSW Family and Community Services, provides both targeted and universal support in order to promote strong, functional and well supported families within the community.

Wesley Mission is dedicated to strengthening families and putting an end to the perpetual cycle of disadvantage that children and families may experience. As part of Wesley Mission’s Family and Community Services group, our Targeted Early Intervention program engages and supports families with children 0-12 who reside in the Hills Shire and Blacktown local government areas.

About the role
We are currently seeking a Family and Community worker for a 12 month maternity leave position. This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to join a committed and passionate team. Wesley Mission provides regular supervision and support for all staff as well as a range of opportunities for professional development. This is a child-related position and preferred applicants will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and Criminal Record History Check. 

Essential criteria
• tertiary qualification(s) in Social Work or Community Welfare
• experience in delivering evidence-based parenting programs, e.g. Circle of Security, Bringing Up Great Kids
• demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
• experience in providing case work support, for families with young children
• demonstrated ability to engage families at the point of initial service contact; build relationships of trust and cooperation, problem solve and resolve conflict
• extensive child protection knowledge and experience
• high level written and verbal communication skills
• high level ability to liaise, develop and maintain relationships with professional groups including Community Services and other government and non-government stakeholders
• demonstrated experience of working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) organisations and communities
• commitment to continuous improvement and WH&S Principles
• willingness to affirm Wesley Mission’s vision, mission and values
• flexibility to work some evenings and occasional Saturdays
• current NSW or National driver license

Desirable criteria
• working knowledge of evidence-based programs
• working knowledge of the local child and family support sector

Remuneration
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 5, with capacity for salary packaging + fully maintained vehicle. Superannuation is paid in addition at 9.5%
