Bayside Christian College is a co-educational Christian school offering ELC through to Year 12. The College is located in Langwarrin South, at the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula. The College’s 600 students enjoy learning within a caring and friendly atmosphere set within beautiful natural surrounds.

In 2017 Bayside Christian College commenced the delivery of VCE VET qualifications from its new Trade Skills Centre, with plans to expand its program to deliver a Cert II in Agriculture and/or Horticulture in the future. At present Year 9 & 10 students participate in an Agriculture elective as a pathway into a VET sector qualification in Agriculture/Horticulture. 

We are seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced secondary science teacher to commence in a general science and agriculture role no later than term Two, with a view to also developing a Cert II VET qualification for delivery from 2020 onwards. 


Person specifications and selection criteria:

  • A good understanding of and commitment to the Christian mission and philosophy of the College
  • Demonstrated skill and experience as a teacher in a secondary school setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the capacity to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders
  • Able to prioritise, problem solve, demonstrate initiative and utilise common sense
  • A high standard of personal presentation and integrity
Minimum requirements for this position include:
  • VIT Registration
  • Current agriculture/horticulture industry experience
A current Cert IV in Training & Assessment (including the upgraded LLN and ASS units) is highly desirable, or alternatively a willingness to undertake further study. A current Agricultural Chemical User Permit (ACUP) will also be viewed favourably.
