About the role
The role of the Assistant Manager works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to provide support to the Residential Care Services Manager to ensure the efficient management of the Residential Care home and the provision of care.

The Assistant Manager makes a significant contribution to the clinical care delivery within Strathearn Village by providing oversight and support to the Registered and Enrolled Nurses and Care Staff in providing care that is aligned with HammondCare’s philosophy of care.

The role also carries out operational management of the Residential Care home in the absence of the Manager, and works in conjunction with other Service and Residential Managers in the region to share best practice and improve service levels to older people in need. 

The role works within the philosophy of care and core values of HammondCare to ensure that the service is tailored to the needs of the individual residents and delivered in a style that aims to maximise resident satisfaction.

The essence of this role:
• Provide support to the Residential Manager to ensure the efficient management of the Residential Care home and the provision of care.
• Carries out operational management of the Residential Care home in the absence of the Manager
• Work in conjunction with other Service and Managers in the region to share best practice and improve service levels to older people in need.

About you
• Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
• Significant practical experience in working in a residential care environment
• RN qualifications and current registration with AHPRA
• Experience managing a team of skilled professionals.
• Ability to logically prioritise varying work demands
• Flexibility in approach to work and hours
• Adaptability and commitment to change management
• An understanding of aged care funding processes and required documentation
• Working knowledge of the Residential Accreditation standard
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skill
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Strong administrative and computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Empathy and patience.
• Must have driver’s licence and be willing to travel.
