The Dementia Centre was founded by HammondCare in 1995 as an impartial resource and provider of research and expertise to the aged and dementia care community. This is key to HammondCare's commitment to excellence in dementia care.

More about the role

The role of Research Project Coordinator (Guided by Excellence Project) works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to drive the development and delivery of Guided by Excellence, a research project funded by the Australian Government Department of Health.

This project will involve the auditing of data (recommendation reports and medication charts) collected through the Dementia Support Australia (DSA) service against selected recommendations published in the Clinical Practice Guidelines and Principles of Care for People with Dementia (CDPC, 2016); and the use of qualitative research methods to determine the utility of Guidelines in informing the development of DSA clinicians recommendations; identification of ‘gaps’ in the Guidelines for DSA purposes; exploration with organisations in receipt of DSA services to determine barriers and enablers to the implementation of DSA recommendations and assess if Guideline informed recommendations have resulted in unexpected outcomes.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the project deliverables are completed on time and within the agreed budget by coordinating day-to-day project operations, writing and updating the project plan, submission of Human Research Ethics application/s and reports,  supporting project personnel, overseeing the write-up of findings for reports, publications and presentations and other relevant duties, as required. • Communicate effectively to project stakeholders, so that at all times throughout the project, people have access to key information and are able to be well informed about project status, delivery, risks and issues.
• To provide a high standard of support to the Head of Research & Design by being directly involved in ensuring the smooth and timely delivery of this key project.
