Youthworks is seeking two General Cooks to join our Conference Centre team. Youthworks Conference Centres provide a place of temporary community for groups for relational and personal growth. We are intentional partners to schools, churches and like-minded community groups through networking, collaboration and facilitation of Word ministry. We are providers of outstanding venues in amazing locations and Christian hospitality. We believe our interactions with our guests and each other are opportunities to promote and proclaim the gospel.
About the role
As a General Cook you will work together with our catering team to ensure our guests are provided wholesome and generous catering.
Your responsibilities
  • Manage high quality client-centered service that achieves a pleasant experience for clients and promotes Youthworks in a positive way
  • Prepare and cook meals, ensuring food is ready for service at the set times
  • Ensure all food safety procedures are followed at all times
You will need to demonstrate
Successful applicants will need to be:
  • a committed Christian who is active in their local church
  • experienced in cooking for large groups
  • available midweek and weekends
  • strong in their work ethos
  • a self-starter who is focussed on completing tasks and willing to contribute to improve systems
This position provides an award wage and a team-oriented working environment. These permanent full time positions are a 38 hour week, with rotating shifts Monday to Sunday based on guest group occupancy. Early shifts generally start at 6.30am, with late shifts generally finishing at 6.30pm.
Experience and familiarity with commercial kitchens and equipment is desirable but not essential. Experience in catering for special diets needs is also desirable.
