Gawura is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander campus and forms part of St Andrew’s Cathedral School.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Aboriginal Education Mentor to join our school to be responsible for providing assistance and support to Year 7-12 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their parents and carers as well as providing support and advice to teachers of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.   

The Essentials

The successful applicant will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • ¥    Abiding interest in the wellbeing and education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • ¥    Demonstrated work experience in this field or related fields 
  • ¥    Good communication, empathy and relationship building skills 
  • ¥    Qualifications in social/community work, or commitment to undertake such studies
  • ¥    Willingness to support the Christian ethos of the school and the School’s philosophy in regards to the inclusive education of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
